BlackBerry Pearl - 1
The BlackBerry Pearl comes with a candy bar form factor design 3G smart phone developed by Research in Motion Ltd (RIM) that has a 1.3-inch TFT touch screen that provides 65,000 colours with 240-by-260 pixel sensor resolutions, a built-in 1.3-megapixel digital camera with 5x digital zoom, video function, media player and variety multimedia features. This phone comes with a Quad band network, high-speed 3G (with HSDPA) technology that works on 3G and also 2G networks which enable users to access the web using broadband services and it support Bluetooth 2.0 wireless technology without the hassle of using wired cables, comes with a 64 MB internal memory, plus it supports microSD card and a USB connectivity for expanding its storage capabilities and transferring of data. It is also designed with a flexible trackball (with glowing light in low-light condition) for your movement on the screen; together with on screen keyboard features of portrait SureType system where each key handles two letters and the smart phone is available in Pearl black colour enclosure.

The BlackBerry Pearl measures in at 4.2-inch in height, 2.0-inch in width, 0.6-inch in depth and 3.2 ounces in weight. The BlackBerry Pearl is also equipped with built-in 1.3-megapixels camera with 1280-by-1024-pixel sensor resolutions for still images; CMOS lens type, built-in camera light source flash, 5x digital zoom and Self-portrait mirror functions. In addition, it also works as a video camera for recording video and uploading personal memories to personal web site or Blog. It is also designed with a flexible trackball (with glowing light in low-light condition) for your movement on the screen; together with on screen keyboard features of portrait SureType system where each key will have to do double duty due to its dual letter on each key and the smart phone is available in Pearl black colour enclosure.

Network
It also works on quad-band (GSM 850, 900, 1800 and 1900 MHz) networks and it is also EDGE (Enhanced Data Rates for Global Evolution) compatible, support Bluetooth 2.0 technology with EDR, support data GPRS (General Packet Radio Service) and USB 2.0 connectivity.

Features
The cell phone comes with a sleep mode, Personal Information Management (PIM) applications which includes an address book, add a picture to an address book entry, calendar, to-do list, automatic display of a selected contact’s address on map, a built-in speakerphone, an alarm clock, calculator and synchronizing options of the PIM applications with BlackBerry Enterprise Server or Microsoft Outlook. The BlackBerry Pearl has a function where it can import contacts and synchronize them to the phone book. It can also assign the contact with selected ring tones and photos for caller ID as well as email addresses and search for them. It is powered by BlackBerry Handheld Software version 4.2 for its operating system combined with 32-bit Intel XScale PXA272 312 MHz processor, BlackBerry maps, support Java (J2ME) and MIDP 2.0; plus it is also preloaded with BlackBerry Desktop Manager called Media Manager which integrates between the smart phone and your computer for easy management of files such as music, pictures, ringtones, and videos. The phone comes with password protection and screen lock for security purposes, support Java applications, support for AES or Triple DES encryption when integrated with BlackBerry® Enterprise Server, and FIPS 140-2 Compliant (FIPS Validation in Progress). Besides that, users can also find an HTML Web Browser, support WAP 2.0, DataViz Document editor for accessing Word, Excel, PowerPoint or PDF files, voice dialing, a voice recorder, vibrating alert mode, a 3.5 mm audio jack, display indicators roaming, battery meter, digital clock, SMS indicator, GPRS indicator, Signal strength, Bluetooth indicator, Alarm clock indicator, Voice message waiting and missed calls indicator.

Display
It features a 1.3-inch (diagonally measured) LCD touch screen provides a clear viewing tool with a 240-by-260-pixel resolutions TFT display of up to 65,000 colours for users to view, along with a user selectable font size, back lighting and light sensing screen.

Multimedia
The BlackBerry Pearl supports a 1.3-megapixels camera with 1280-by-1024-pixel sensor resolutions for still images; CMOS lens type, built-in camera light source flash, 5x digital zoom and Self-portrait mirror functions. In addition, it also works as a video camera for recording video and uploading personal memories to personal web site or Blog. The device also supports file format such as MP3, AAC, AMR, AMR-NB, AAC+, eAAC+, WMA, MIDI, AVI, MPEG4 Part 2 Simple Profile, H.263, WMV and JPEG, plus it also features polyphonic and MP3 ring tones.

Messaging and data
It has 3G high-speed (HSDPA) capabilities where it can be can be used for quick transfer of data, audio and video streaming, Web surfing, multimedia messaging and email. Other basic offerings include wireless push e-mail (an automatic system which pushes an email to the device as soon as it arrives on your email server), text messaging (SMS), Instant messaging, and also support Picture messaging (MMS).

Memory and connectivity
It supports Bluetooth 2.0 wireless technology without the hassle of using wired cables, comes with a 64 MB internal memory, plus it also supports microSD or TransFlash card and USB connectivity for expanding its storage capabilities and transferring of data.

Power and Battery
The BlackBerry Pearl uses the standard removable/rechargeable Lithium-Ion battery with battery capacity of 900 mAh. Its battery life for talk time is rated up to 210 minutes, while the stand by time is rated up to 360 hours from a fully charged battery.
