Today we’ll have a short look at Motorola Backflip. The Motorola Backflip is AT&T’s first Android phone in the market. This smartphone has a QWERTY keyboard which explains the bulky weight and features a 5-megapixel camera. Let’s get back to the QWERTY keyboard. The keyboard can be swung around 180 degrees, in other words, you can move it around to suit yourself. Even when the keyboard is closed or hidden away, a small navigational touchpad, also known as the Backtrack, will be on the 3.1-inch touchscreen. The touchpad can be used to scroll and select items on the menu. The phone runs on Google Android OS 1.5. The phone has multiple features including mobile TV, music player, video player, GPS and 3G/WiFi. We tried running several programs at the same time on the phone and the phone suddenly slowed down so guess no heavy duty on the Backflip.

The Backflip is considered not that heavy, weighting in at 4.7 ounces. If you are interested in the Motorola Backflip, AT&T is offering the phone now at $100 with a 2-year contract. Hurry and get yours if you think this is a good offer.

Apple has finally confirmed what we all have been waiting for, the iPad release dates. The device will be released in stores as from the third of April in the United States. For those who are impatient can start ordering or rather can pre-order the iPad as of the 12 of March. This can be done on Apple’s website, the pre-ordering.

As the release dates for the United States have been released, other release dates for other countries have been released too. The lucky countries which would soon receive the iPad, whose people would soon own an iPad, are UK, Canada, Australia, France, Germany, Japan and Switzerland and in these notable countries, the Apple iPad will arrive safely by the end of April. Unfortunately for Ireland, the Irish won’t get to see the new Apple device anytime soon as there was no release date mention for Ireland. Damn! That’s like finding out you didn’t pass your final exams. Nevertheless, people in these lucky countries, start saving up.

What seems to be the next BlackBerry phone has been spotted, a few pictures have been leaked of this slider smartphone and we can’t help notice the similarities between BlackBerry’s Storm and Bold smarphones. Rumor has it that the supposedly up-and-coming phone will be from Research in Motion which is a Canadian Mobile Agent.

Further rumors suggest that the device from BlackBerry will run BlackBerry OS 6.0. It will feature Wi-Fi 802.11n. It is said to feature a display resolution of 360×480 and further reports suggest that it will be a GSM/HSPA device. From the picture, we can spot a sliding vertical keyboard which is identical to the Palm Pre.

There are still further speculations on the net as to what really is this device, some claim that it could be the new Storm 3 while others differ the thought by saying that the RIM would use its virtual keyboard-only moniker for this. All these details seem crazy and we had rather wait for an official statement from BlackBerry than jump up and down right now!

Sony Ericsson just announced the 3G-enabled Naite phone is available in stores now at the price of $159. The Sony Ericsson Naite which is pronounced ‘nigh-tay’ is all set to be purchased at Sony Style stores nationwide and SonyStyle.com. It is said that Sony Ericsson decided to sell the Naite for an entry-price level as competition in the mobile world is heavy. With so many brands releasing sophisticated phones and the consumer’s taste constantly changing, Sony Ericsson found themselves facing heavy competition.

The Sony Ericsson Naite happens to be the newest model in the GreenHeart line of phones. This range of phones was made to enable its consumers to enjoy the phone’s features and services while at the same time, protecting the environment. If you remember correctly, Sony Ericsson was one of the first phone manufacturers to produce something that is green, in other words, devices that will help save and protect the environment. On the Naite phone, you can check your emails, check your messages and the best of all, there’s an integrated Facebook® application. If you are interested in this phone then hurry to your nearest Sony store before the offer ends.

At the CeBIT 2010, LG decided to unveil two of their mobiles which are the LG Cookie GS290 and the Viewty GT400. Though the devices are still under production, LG have revealed a couple of details on the handsets. The LG Cookie GS290 has some similarities with LG’s recent Cookie Plus GS500, as a matter of fact, it looks like the cheaper version of the original device. The LG Cookie mobiles have been around for a while now and it’s pretty much clear that LG plans to release more and more of this line in order to create a special place for them among their loyal consumers.

The Cookie GS290 comes with a 3-inch WQVGA touchscreen display. The phone features GSM/EDGE connectivity. There is also a 3.5mm headset jack, music player, FM radio and a social networking integration on the phone. Not forgetting the 2-megapixel camera at the back of the phone. Meanwhile, the GT400 Viewty comes with a much better 5-megapixel camera and it has VGA video recording abilities. That is all we know for now until more details are released, stay tune.

The Motorola Clutch i465 is a nice small QWERTY phone. We are surprised at how light it is despite the fact that it is a QWERTY handset. The phone weighs about 3.4 ounces and measures 4.4-in x 2.1-in x 0.6-in. This Motorola phone comes with a 1.79-inch display with a resolution of 160 x 128 pixels (64,000 colors) which quite low for our standards so we had to modify a couple of features that we will view on the display including text sixe and all that. Controls/Keys on the phone are very comfortable. They are well-spaced out in between so there’s no discomfort when typing. There’s the Talk and End/power buttons, two soft keys, an OK button, a menu control and a speakerphone key.

Let’s talk about the QWERTY keyboard, the keys are small and sort of peaked but we like it as it’s not too difficult to use. The phone supports about 600 contact entries but unfortunately we don’t even have that many contacts to add. The rest are the usual features found on a handset. We forgot to mention the VGA camera on the phone that can take shots in five resolutions. Overall, if you like to use the messaging service then you would definitely appreciate this phone.

This is what we’ve heard from our friends over at Apple. Apple folks are so confident that the Apple iPad will be a hit and in order for this to happen, they are willing to cut down the price of their iPhone devices. The reason for the prices being dropped down also means that Apple likely thinks that the iPad will be a threat to the iPhone. Meaning that more people will be interested in the iPad and the iPhone will be left out in the cold. At least, that’s what the Apple folks are trying to imply.

Nevertheless, the iPhone and iPad can’t be put into the same category, the iPhone is still affordable in some ways but the iPad doesn’t come cheap. Morgan Stanley, expert analysts, claims that Apple will definitely drop the price of the iPhone as soon as the iPad releases. The Apple iPad will release later on this year. Recently, Apple was in the news for taking back its applications that were based on explicit content. We definitely can’t wait for the Apple iPad to release to see the response that the device will get.

We finally got a sneak peek at what the Windows Phone 7 operating system looks like on a phone and that too, an LG phone. This much-awaited revelation was made at the Engadget show. Aaron Woodman who works for Microsoft was in charge of giving a small demo of what the device will look like running on the Windows Phone 7 application. Woodman stated, when he was showing off the phone, that this LG phone with Microsoft’s OS is just a pre-production model but he went on to add that since the official release would be in September, he doesn’t expect much changes to be done to the OS.

No official specs were mentioned but we all know that to have the Windows Phone 7 system on, the phone needs to have at least a 3.5-inch capacitive screen with multitouch features, WiFi, 3G, Bluetooth and a really good processor. Meanwhile, this LG phone appears to have a full, four-row QWERTY keyboard and a 5-megapixel camera. As soon as more details roll in, we will keep this post updated.

Nokia has finally launched its N97, the Gold Edition. As it is, the N97 Gold Edition is an over the top gadget and we are quite not sure who will use this 18-carat gold phone. Nowadays people are scared going out of their house with a little jewelry on so to whom would this expensive phone suit? Probably rich people with bodyguards or maybe P.Diddy, the man has a penchant for jewelry.

Back to the phone, Nokia is releasing the Gold Edition of their well-known Nokia N97 phone. As already mentioned above, this phone comes in 18-carat of gold and everything inside the phone has the gold theme running. It features the same software as found on the original version but in this one, Nokia puts in the ELLE 360Fashion news application that will allow its rich users to follow news and latest trends in the world of fashion. The Nokia N97 mini Gold Edition will be released in Europe, the Middle East, Asia and Africa.

By now, we all have heard about Motorola’s MotoBlur. MotoBlur is a software by Motorola which is an interface with Twitter and Facebook. What it does is, it helps to combine the updates from Twitter and Facebook and put them all together (combined with text messages, emails, and contacts) so that their viewers can view them all on just one screen. The MotoBlur is available for Motorola’s Android-based phones. The software supports contacts, emails, and messages and it does so by backing these applications and their contents on a server which can be retrieved later by its owners. This service is really handy for those who lose the phone or when their phone is broken.

With the MotoBlur technology, Motorola is heavily relying on it to attract more and more consumers and create a good place for them in the market. Among the mobile brands, Motorola has been doing better with a fourth-quarter profit gathered recently. Well, all we can say is that hard work does pay off eventually.
