
Amazon has launched the Kindle application for Blackberry phones. Blackberry users will now be able to read Kindle ebooks on their phone. This move by Amazon is intended for Blackberry owners in the US and this application will allow them to directly download their chosen books to their Blackberry phones.
Apparently, Amazon had to launch this Kindle application because the online retailer company felt slightly threaten by Apple’s much-awaited iPad. As we all know, the Apple iPad tablet will have some kind of book store featured on the phone from selected publishers.
The Kindle application will be for Blackberry models including the Bold 9700 and Storm 2. Amazon promised that soon enough the Kindle application will be available for other countries as well. For now, those who will receive this application will have access to more than 400,000 digital books and it also allows users to read a sample first before downloading the whole thing to their phone. Each download will cost $9.99.
