The Samsung Rant is a 3G Sprint phone compatible designed with full QWERTY keyboard layout for a quick response and it also comes with a 2.1-inch diagonal LCD TFT screen that provides 262,000 colours with 176-by-220 pixel resolutions and a built-in 2.0-megapixel camera, 4x digital zooming capability, self timer delay function and multi-shots feature. This phone also comes with high-speed 3G technology, supports dual-band Code Division Multiple Access (CDMA) networks that enable users to access the web using broadband services and it supports Bluetooth wireless technology without the hassle of using wired cables. It is designed with a slider mechanism concept and it is available in a Black or Red coloured finish. The phone also comes with GPS functionality, multimedia features, and a multi-lingual menu which can display languages in English or Spanish.

The Samsung Rant measures in at 4.4-inch in height, 2-inch in width, 0.7-inch in depth and 4.8 ounces in weight. A 2.1-inch diagonal screen provides a clear viewing tool with a 176-by-220-pixel resolutions LCD TFT display of up to 262,000 (18-bit) colours for users to view. It also allows users to adjust the screen’s brightness, the dialing-font size, and a screen animation whenever there is an incoming call. It comes with a built-in memory of 64 Mbytes, but this can be expandable with a MicroSD or microSDHC card with up to 16GByte of memory for further storage capabilities. It also works on dual-band CDMA 850/1900 MHz networks with CDMA 2000 or EVDO technology, which provides a downstream rate of about 2 megabits per second. It also supports Bluetooth 2.0 technology and USB connectivity that provides a quick file management of pictures, video and music library. The Samsung Rant supports Sprint Music store where the music library can be added for listening to favourite songs wirelessly in stereo. Its music player provides basic functions like repeat mode, shuffle mode, and the capability to create and edit play lists. The Rant is also fitted with a QWERTY keyboard that has four rows of keys and with One Click, the Rant’s user interface can be personalized by the selection of commonly used features such as text messaging, web access, email, Sprint Navigation, Sprint TV or Sprint Music Store for easier access. Apart from that, users can also personalize the phone with a selection of wallpaper and alert tones, or download more options and additional ring tones through the WAP 2.0 wireless Web browser.
The device supports file format such as MP3, AAC, AAC+, MPEG-4 and H.263.

The Samsung Rant comes with A-GPS, and along with that it supports for Sprint Navigation and Sprint Family Locator. Combined with a Bluetooth car kit, the A-GPS provides a powerful portable navigation system that has voiced turn by turn driving directions in unfamiliar locations, plus receiving updates of real-time traffic conditions and automatic rerouting when the need arises. With its EV-DO feature, it allows access to Sprint’s Power Vision, for Sprint TV to view live on-demand television shows, and the Sprint Music Store, for wireless music downloads. Apart from that the Sprint Movies also will be available for access which is for premium movie channels and more than 150 channels of Sprint Radio. The Rant also offers demo version games like Puzzle Quest, Warlords and Street Fighter II, plus trial versions of three applications like Pandora, Sprint Social Zone, and Nascar Sprint Cup Mobile.
It is also equipped with a built-in 2.0-megapixel camera with four choices of resolutions for still images (1,280-by-960, 640-by-480, 320-by-240 or 160-by-120), 4x digital zoom, self timer delay with three options of 8, 15 and 30 seconds, plus brightness and white balance. Apart from that, it is fitted with spot metering, a night mode, five color tones, multi-shot, fun frames, four shutter sounds, and a silent option. It also works as a video camcorder where users can record video clips along with settings similar to the camera’s settings. Photo and video can also be shared via Sprint Picture Mail, Video Mail or print directly from the Samsung Rant to a Pictbridge compatible printer. In addition, the Samsung Rant allows users to send photos or videos to up to ten contacts simultaneously.
Other basic offerings include e-mail for accessing POP3 email including AOL, Yahoo!, Windows Live and Gmail as well as corporate email, text messaging (SMS), voice SMS, Instant messaging, Picture messaging (MMS), Predictive text input (Intelligent typing with T9 technology), a speakerphone, a speaker-independent voice recognition, an internal antenna, an alarm clock, a calendar, reminder, phone book, a memo pad, a world clock and calculator. Its phone book provides up to 600-contact for names and numbers with room in each entry for six phone numbers, two e-mail addresses, an instant-messaging username, a Web address, and notes. Users can also save callers to groups and pair them with a photo (caller ID) or assign to one of the 20 polyphonic ring tones. It also has 20 list of missed calls memory, 20 list dialled calls memory and 20 list received calls memory. The Rant also provides wireless backup restores contact information if the phone is lost, stolen or damaged. Besides that, users can also find a wireless internet Web Browser, support voice dialling, conference call capability, a voice-memo recorder, vibrating alert, support MP3, MIDI and polyphonic ring tones, stereo Bluetooth, syncronization with computer and support PictBridge direct printing. The Samsung Rant uses the standard Lithium-Ion battery with battery capacity of 960 mAh and the battery is powered by an ENERGY STAR qualified adaptor. Its battery life for talk time is rated up to 5.6 hours, while the stand by time is rated up to 250 hours. The phone comes with FCC compliance and has a digital SAR rating of 1.01 watts per kilogram.
