The Sony Ericsson K850i is designed with a 2.25-inch TFT screen that provides 262,144-colour with 240-by-320 pixel resolutions, a built-in 5-megapixel digital camera with screen viewfinder, xenon flash, auto focus and automatic lens cover. This phone comes with a high-speed 3G (HSDPA) to enable users in accessing the web using broadband services and it supports Bluetooth wireless technology without the hassle of using wired cables. The phone is also supported with 16x digital zoom, Sony Ericsson’s Cyber-shot and BestPic features, image and video stabilization, plus it is also fitted with red eye reduction function. With the PlayNow arena feature, users can utilize the various multimedia functions that comes with it such as accessing millions of music tracks, the TrackID function, playing games or downloading new games, using the PlayNow Uncut feature to see any promotions of new artist and album, along with personalized options for updating the phone with ring tones, wallpaper animation and picture wallpaper, fresh themes, beautiful graphics and lots of free downloadable content. It also has a candy bar design and comes with Luminous Green, Velvet Blue or Quicksilver black colour.
The Sony Ericsson K850i measures in at 102 mm in height, 48 mm in width, 17 mm in depth and 118 grams in weight. A 2.25-inch screen provides a clear viewing tool with a 240-by-320-pixel resolution TFT display of up to 262,144 colours for users to view. It comes with a built-in memory of 40 Mbytes but this is expandable to 4 Gbytes with a Memory Stick Micro (M2) and there is also support for the microSD format cards for further storage capabilities. It also works on quadband (GSM 850 / 900 / 1800 / 1900MHz), UMTS/HSDPA (850 / 1900 / 2100MHz) networks and it is also EDGE compatible, support Bluetooth technology with A2DP and USB connectivity. Together with 3G high-speed and always online Internet connection function, this mobile phone can be used for quick transfer of data, audio and video streaming, Web surfing, multimedia messaging and email. It also enables users to talk on the phone and do other multitasking task at the same time without interrupting your voice call. The Sony Ericsson K850i also feature PlayNow arena where users can make used of the various multimedia functions. It provides millions of music tracks and users can download latest songs or hear old classic tunes. It also offers TrackID charts on most searched music online and users can also have a personal chart for previous songs that you have tracked. The TrackID can also be used for recognizing a song which is unknown to users, along with a ‘Buy it now’ link for purchasing the song. The device supports audio format such as MP3, AAC, Bluetooth stereo (A2DP), MPEG4 media player, PlayNow and TrackID, plus it also comes with FM radio equipped with RDS, supports 3D games, Java and Motion gaming.
It is also equipped with a built-in 5-megapixel (2592-by-1944-pixels) digital camera with 16x zoom, an auto focus with Face focus technology (this technology recognises up to three faces in the picture frame, thus automatically setting focus on them and control its exposure), Xenon flash that produced high-intensity light for indoor or outdoor conditions, red-eye reduction, records video and a second front camera for video calling, video recording and video streaming purposes. The phone is equipped with Sony Ericsson’s Cyber-shot feature that provides state-of-the-art lens, image sensor and also imaging software for enabling users to capture instant moments without using an actual digital camera. The K850i also has BestPic feature which can automatically take nine photos in a second, also a picture stabiliser (Anti-blur technology), which helps to reduce camera shake and blurred photo. Besides that, it also has picture and video blogging options for uploading personal memories to personal web site or Blog, picture wallpaper and wallpaper animation features.

The K850i is a multimedia phone where the new media browser puts all of users stored media, whether photos, video, music or podcasts, in one place. Its phone book provides up to 1,000-contact records with room in each entry for seven phone numbers, an e-mail, a URL, a title, a company name, two street addresses, a birthday, and notes, while the SIM card can holds an additional 250 names. Users can also save callers to groups and pair them with a photo and one of the polyphonic ring tones or video ring tones. Other basic offerings include e-mail, Instant messaging and Picture messaging (MMS), Predictive text input, sound recorder, a speakerphone, an alarm clock, a calendar, a task list, a notepad, a timer, a stopwatch, Flight mode and a calculator. Besides that, users can also find an RSS reader function, voice dialing, a voice recorder, vibrating alert, Synchronisation PC feature, USB mass storage file manager, Modem, PictBridge, a code memo for storing sensitive information and even use the phone as a remote control for another Bluetooth-enabled device. The Sony Ericsson K850i uses standard Lithium-Ion battery. Its talk time is rated up to four hours, while the stand by time is up to 400 hours.
